Moral, Ethical, and Spiritual Precepts

Proverbs 18.

Proverbs with the author given as Solomon: deals with living life wisely and skillfully.

Of course this is dealing with friendship without using the word loosely.  (Using the word loosely can place those with arterial motives using Mimicry.) Trying to explain this to a love one may lead them to say, “you/I may have the same motives.” You have to remind them that we are relational in our dating actives. Friendship does not have these benefits.

In friendship we deal with moral, ethical, and spiritual precepts. This does not include personal physical intimacies.

Friendship has its risks, but to be isolated is not wise. We belong to each other, and we need each other. We may have many acquaintances, but we have few friends. The person with too many friends may end up in trouble. Be a true friend and God will give you true friends who will stick close to you through life.

A real friend can be trusted and will stay with you when you are in trouble. Friends love you too much to pamper you and their counsel helps you. A good friend is generational. Some do not make good friends: those who tempt you to sin, gluttons, drunkards, and gossips. Watch out also for the flatterers. The best friend will have Jesus as their friend, period.

Never, ever attempt to make a fool a friend. One thing, they like to talk so much that they do not hear what others say. Their foolish words cause fights and inner pain. Their impatience to speak makes them jump to conclusions, and that creates problems. The only hope for fools is that they themselves shut-up and start listening to wisdom. God has to step in. However, God will not step in if we do not listen.

Paul Tournier: “No one can develop freely in this world and find a full life without feeling understood by at least one person.”
